In recent years, the LOHAS industry has expanded globally, becoming a mainstream, emerging market with infinite business opportunities. Since establishing the world’s first LOHAS EMBA in 2018, NTNU has provided students with an in-depth learning journey into the LOHAS industry, cultivating numerous professionals over the course of six semesters.

We express our deepest gratitude to the second CEO, Chair Professor Tzyy-Yuang Shiang, for his dedication and contributions. We also encourage the new CEO, Chair Professor Tsung-Min Hung, to uphold the program’s founding spirit as he takes on this heavy responsibility in administrative service, continuing his predecessor’s efforts to lead NTNU LOHAS toward an even brighter future.

Dean Ho-Seng Wang stated that under the leadership of Professor Shiang, the promotion of various program affairs—including faculty, curriculum, activities, clubs, and fundraising—has been highly successful. Over the past few years, the program navigated the shadows of the pandemic, passed critical evaluations, and established excellent institutional norms, continuously demonstrating its transformative energy. He expects the new CEO, Professor Hung, to take the baton and continue guiding the LOHAS EMBA towards an even better future, co-creating a new chapter of vigorous development.

In his farewell remarks, outgoing CEO Professor Shiang stated: “Facing the crisis of a hyper-aging society and global warming, the curriculum was specifically designed to integrate the diverse dimensions of sports, leisure, health, and sustainability to meet the expectations of a better LOHAS life. The LOHAS EMBA, which connects the health industry and LOHAS business opportunities, has received unanimous praise.” For instance, the “Technology and LOHAS Product Design” course, personally taught by Professor Shiang, encourages students to participate in the National Sports Technology Innovation and Design Competition, with students winning the Special Excellence in Innovative Technology Award every year. Professor Shiang expressed great pride in the students’ outstanding performance, noting that this cross-disciplinary collaboration helps apply innovative technology to practical life, stimulating students’ creativity while cultivating more high-potential talents.

The incoming CEO, Chair Professor Tsung-Min Hung, is the head of the NTNU Sports and Brain Science research team. A former 8-time national table tennis player, he delved into brain science and sports psychology after retiring, focusing on sports cognitive neuroscience. He established the Sport and Exercise Psychology Laboratory and was elected as an International Fellow of the National Academy of Kinesiology in the USA. Besides teaching at the university, Professor Hung also introduces scientific perspectives to assist in training Olympic athletes. Recently, he published the book “Breaking Inertia”, sharing how to utilize psychological skills in daily life to painlessly step out of one’s comfort zone. With his profound professional background and solid practical experience, he is undeniably the perfect candidate for the CEO position.

Regarding his assumption of the role as the third LOHAS EMBA CEO, Professor Hung stated he will continue to follow the successful operational model established by his predecessor. Taking “Sports & Leisure” and “Health & Sustainability” as the two main learning axes, the program will allow students to experience a physical and mental journey of sports and health, underpinned by “Management” courses. Simultaneously, through industry-academia collaboration and the outstanding professional performance of alumni and classmates, the program will closely link with the core spirit of “LOHAS Learning, Learning LOHAS,” cultivating students’ professional abilities to implement the LOHAS spirit and sustainable development.

CEO Hung expects that through the diverse curriculum and enriching activities of the LOHAS EMBA, every student can “break inertia” and change bad habits. Just like carving a new water channel, one must first learn to amplify small instances of progress. Through a repetitive process, one can continuously strengthen new neural pathway connections, achieve the unity of knowledge and action, and build their own “Goal-Achieving System.” This is his earnest expectation and positioning for all LOHAS EMBA students!

The LOHAS EMBA handover ceremony between the outgoing C
